World No. 1 Jannik Sinner delivered a clinical performance to end Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon reign, while the two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz survived a stern test against Taylor Fritz to book his place in the final, setting up a mouth-watering title clash between the top two seeds.

In the first semi-final, world No. 1 Sinner dismantled Djokovic in straight sets, winning 6–3, 6–3, 6–4. The 23-year-old Italian was in total control from the start, breaking Djokovic twice in each of the opening two sets. Djokovic, who appeared to be hampered by a lingering thigh injury, struggled to find rhythm against Sinner’s relentless aggression from the baseline.

The loss ended Djokovic’s run of seven consecutive Wimbledon final appearances dating back to 2018. It also marked the first time the 24-time Grand Slam champion has lost in straight sets at Wimbledon since 2017. For Sinner, it was a statement win that earned him a maiden Wimbledon final appearance and his fourth successive Grand Slam final.

Alcaraz continues to up the ante

Later, Alcaraz overcame a tough fight from Fritz, winning 6–4, 5–7, 6–3, 7–6 (8–6). The defending champion looked in trouble in the fourth set, where Fritz led 5–3 and held two set points in the tie-break. But Alcaraz was not to be moved, showcasing his composure under pressure to close out the match in just over three hours.

Alcaraz, bidding for his third straight Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam overall, showed once again why he is regarded as one of the most complete players on the Tour.

With Sinner and Alcaraz set to face off in Sunday’s final, fans can expect another chapter in what is quickly becoming one of modern tennis’s most compelling rivalries. The two have split their Grand Slam meetings in 2025 -- Sinner won at the Australian Open, Alcaraz at Roland Garros -- setting up a high-stakes decider on grass.
