The 12th season of the Pro Kabaddi League will kick off on Friday, August 29, organisers Mashal Sports have confirmed. The announcement comes weeks after a record-breaking player auction that saw 10 players cross the ₹1 crore mark for the first time in the league's history.
Defending champions Haryana Steelers will begin their title defence after clinching their maiden PKL crown last season. All 12 franchises have revamped their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign, which promises a competitive field following the high-stakes auction held in Mumbai on May 31 and June 1.
The venues and complete match schedule for Season 12 are yet to be announced.
Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner, said the league is set for its 'most competitive season yet,' citing the depth of talent and balance across teams following the auction. "We are thrilled to unveil the commencement date for PKL Season 12. Following a record-breaking Player Auction, which saw 10 players cross the INR 1 crore mark, we have set a foundation for what promises to be our most competitive season yet. We look forward to bringing fans another thrilling chapter of kabaddi action," he said.
PKL, sanctioned by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), continues to be one of India’s most followed sports leagues, playing a key role in the growth of kabaddi and its players on the national stage.
